David Brent wants to buy your business.
The unforgettable team training experience.
For one afternoon, your workplace becomes the target of a private-equity takeover.
Tim Oliver - the world’s leading David Brent impersonator - and two colleagues arrive to assess the business, interrogate your team and decide what needs to change.
What follows is a completely original interactive story, built around a genuine training session focused on the skills your people actually want to improve.

This sounds ridiculous
That’s kind of the point.
Most people have experienced training that seemed useful at the time and was almost completely forgotten a week later.
This is a training and team building experience that is impossible to forget.
You can tell people something in a presentation.
Or you can put them inside a story in which they experience it for themselves.
The Takeover combines the practical value of a training session with the attention and unpredictability of live theatre.
Plus it’s David Brent attempting to take over your business. You know you want to see that.

How does it work?
(Without spoiling the story, this is the gist…)
THE TAKEOVER BEGINS
David Brent and his colleagues from Shanghai Investments UK arrive at your workplace to conduct due diligence.
They introduce themselves, explain their acquisition philosophy (plus David’s personal philosophy on life) and begin getting to know the business and the people behind it.
THE SERIOUS BIT. MOSTLY.
At the heart of the afternoon is a genuine training session.
As standard, this focuses on storytelling: how to communicate ideas more effectively across branding, sales, strategy and everyday business life.
But it doesn’t have to.
You can choose a specific area of development that matters most to your organisation.
We can bring in an expert in that field, or your own learning and development leader can deliver that part of the session (and David will be under strict instructions not to heckle them).
THE VERDICT
At the end of the afternoon, Shanghai Investments reconvenes.
David and his colleagues present their findings and reveal what they believe your business should do next.
Some recommendations may even be useful.
Others absolutely should not be implemented.
Your team leaves with…
Practical skills
Tools and ideas they can actually use when they return to work.
Fresh insight
A different perspective on the business, the team and the way they work together.
A shared story
An experience people will still be talking about long after another conventional training session would have disappeared from memory.
How can we personalise the experience?
Every Takeover has a specific training focus.
The standard version is built around storytelling.
But we can adapt the training element around the priorities of your organisation.
- Storytelling
- Sales
- Leadership
- Communication
- Productivity
- Artificial Intelligence
- Or another area that matters to you
The specialist session can be delivered by us, by an expert brought into the experience, or by someone from your own team.
The theatre wraps around the training.
The training itself remains genuinely useful.
